Pine & Crane Miniature Mountain Layered Jade Sculpture (with rosewood base) QianLong Era of Qing Dynasty Dimensions (cm): W 16.5 x H 9.0 Pine trees and cranes are symbols of longevity in East Asian culture. This longevity-themed three-layer jade sculpture from the Imperial Workshop during Emperor QianLong’s reign depicts two elderly men enjoying a leisure walk on a mountain trail amongst the majestic pine trees and the elegant cranes. Little animals such as squirrels add delights to this piece of art that is filled with amazing details. With careful observation, one would find that the old gentlemen are neither farmers nor scholars. They seem to be wealthy people who enjoy nature and easy pace of life.
